SOHARPET is a world-scale petrochemical venture being developed in the Sultanate of Oman by MAK Germany Group, an international industrial group with more than three decades of experience in engineering, project development, and industrial investment in European and worldwide markets.
The project is strategically designed to establish one of the region’s leading integrated production facilities for Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), planned with a extensions for combined annual production capacity of approximately 1.5 million metric tons. Once operational, SOHARPET will play a significant role in strengthening the downstream petrochemical value chain in Oman and supporting the country’s long-term industrial diversification objectives under Oman Vision 2040.

The PTA plant forms an integral part of OQ’s paraxylene downstream expansion program and is supported by a long-term feedstock supply arrangement through a dedicated pipeline connection, ensuring secure and efficient access to critical raw materials. This strategic integration enhances supply reliability, operational efficiency, and long-term competitiveness.
Located within the internationally recognized Sohar Port and Freezone, SOHARPET benefits from one of the Middle East’s most advanced industrial and logistics hubs. The integrated ecosystem provides direct access to deep-water port facilities, bulk storage infrastructure, feedstock handling systems, utilities, transportation networks, and global export markets. This unique combination of industrial infrastructure and logistical connectivity creates a highly efficient platform for this large-scale petrochemical.
